Cleaning Wise Blood...

Always test your costumes to make sure the blood will come out.

I've found that Wise Blood:

EASILY washes out of

Polyester, pleather, wool, and some cottons

TWO WASHES may be required for

Many cottons, nylon, rayon

MAY STAIN

Some cottons (what is it with cotton?), nylon, silk

Wash costumes soon, wash them often, wash them hot. The longer the blood stays in the fabric, the more likely it will stain.

Once you've wrapped your scene you need to clean your actors. As we all know, stage blood stains. But all hope is not lost!

BEFORE you use the blood you can take steps to prevent staining. Blood soaks into dry skin so moisturize before bleeding. Blood washes off easily from well-moisturized skin.

AFTER you are soaked in blood wash it off with water, then rub shaving cream (or vitamin E oil, or other oily makeup remover) into the skin thoroughly. Wash that off and repeat. The blood will usually go away after two or three tries.
